CDMX

My experience growing up in Mexico city (CDMX).

I made this painting as a tribute to that part of my life when I was surrounded by color and music. Rather than being a realistic representation of my life, it is an attempt to capture and share a feeling.

The figure in the foreground is me as a child, standing in the Zócalo of Mexico City, officially known as Plaza de la Constitución. Behind me, traditional dancers perform “La Danza Mexica,” keeping alive a tradition that stretches back centuries. Through their transparent bodies rise the mountain Iztaccíhuatl and the dormant volcano Popocatépetl, which carry a legend of eternal love and bravery. The square patterns in the sky are meant to echo the patterns on pyramid stairs, while also signaling a shift toward contemporary architecture in Mexico City and its skyscrapers. Ultimately, this piece is a tribute to my roots and to the childhood moments that shaped who I am today.
